Stephanie Kurnava Administrator/Directress All Locations | All Classrooms
Stephanie Kurnava enjoyed being in a Montessori environment herself, from age three through third grade, and returned to her childhood Montessori school as a Classroom Assistant through high school and college. She received her Graduate Montessori Teaching Certificate and Master of Education at St. Catherine University in St.Paul, Minnesota. She has lived and worked all over the country, teaching, exploring, and enjoying each new place through the eyes of the children she has worked with. She especially loves seeing the Montessori environment through the eyes of her own child, now thriving in the Elementary program. The openness and love for life and learning that children posses fuels her excitement to be a facilitator for children as they develop to reach their potential. When at home, Stephanie and her family love to be outside exploring and collecting nature as well as enjoying music, movies and books of all kinds.
Christie Yang Director All Locations | All Classrooms
Christie Yang, born and raised in the DC area, loves to laugh, eat, and live life to the fullest! Prior to working at F.C.M.S., Christie lived in Maui, Hawaii, where she met her husband. Next, they packed up and moved to San Francisco, CA, where Christie began volunteering at John Yehall Elementary School. She soon discovered that a career in education was what she wanted to pursue. After obtaining a master’s degree in education (Pre-K through 8th grade) from Marymount University in Arlington, VA and teaching for six years in Fairfax County Public Schools at Lynbrook Elementary School, Christie quickly burnt out of the test-taking mentality. She was ready to learn about a different approach to learning – Montessori!
Coincidentally, her best friend, Tatjana Vichnevsky, who she has known since 9 years of age as they grew up on the same street in Annandale, VA, wanted to start her own school….Full Circle Montessori School! Tatjana knew she had one child, Christie’s son Jakob, and Christie to help with anything the school needed in its starting stages. After 12 years, Jakob and her daughter Maya have graduated the Elementary program (how did the time go by so fast!) and Christie continues to be grateful for the Full Circle Montessori School experience for her own family and the joy she gets from working with the children, the families, and the F.C.M.S. team who inspire her to be a better human being each and every day!
